International Smart Cities Network

The International Smart Cities Network (ISCN) is steered by German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community (BMI) to promoting international exchange and knowledge transfer  at  the  national  and  local levels. The exchange between cities and ministries of  urban  development  broadens  the  discussion, promotes a common understanding and strengthens common learning processes, as well as the position of cities in the international framework. It supports the  integration  of  digital  solutions  in  citizen-centred  development  processes  and  facilitates the exchange of best practices and lessons learned between cities and urban actors worldwide. An International Smart Cities Network secretariat has been set up at Berlin (Germany) with support of GIZ.

Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community has signed a Joint Declaration of Intent with for cooperation within the International Smart Cities Network (ISCN) on 1st November 2019 in the presence of both head of States. Indian Ministry has nominated three Smart Cities- Bhubaneshwar, Kochi and Coimbatore as the member to this network. GIZ’s Climate Smart Cities Project supports the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs on ISCN affairs.
