25th June 2021- Virtual event

The Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework 2.0, which is the second phase of the assessment, was launched by Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Govt. Of India, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri on 25th June 2021, during the 6th anniversary celebration of the ‘Smart City Mission’, in a virtual event. This phase of the assessment had 126 participant cities.

The CSCAF 2.0 is an initiative by MoHUA with GIZ and NIUA as strategic partners. The Climate Smart Cities Self-Assessment Tool (CSC-SAT) was launched along with CSCSAF 2.0. The tool follows the 'Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories' (GPC) to estimate indicator-wise GHG emissions and further provides mitigation potential for the interventions mentioned in the assessment framework.

Along with this, the Cities Readiness Report for 126 cities was also launched. The “National Mission for Sustainable Habitat 2021” guidelines have been revised with project support and now include the CSCAF indicators for further reporting on the NDCs and SDGs.
